About the Event

Post the success of the first-ever virtual forum - Smart Built Environment Forum – CM today Magazine is all set to roll out the second edition in September 2021.

While the 2020 edition was all about the lessons one learned during the pandemic, this year, the conference will shed light on the next phase in the built environment. Taking into account new industry regulations and guidelines, a large emphasis of the year 2021, according to industry reports, will be focused on re-envisioning spaces leveraging experienced master planning to effectively manage spaces better. Most building operators will continue to meet the objectives of creating happier communities and meeting smart city and sustainability goals.

This year, CM today hosts a 2-day virtual forum that is aimed to connect visitors to the latest information and technology in the built environment. The event is a knowledge-based platform and will give the visitors the information they need to arrive at an informed decision on how to make their built assets more economic for owners and more functional for occupiers.

The show targets 4 main sectors – Property Management, Community Management, Facilities Management, and Prop Tech. Each day dedicated to one of the sectors will witness keynote speeches, panels, presentations, and more that will cover the biggest issues and trends driving real estate development and management in the Middle East region.

Tax implications on JoP

It was always a debatable topic - VAT on JOP in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), till the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) issued guidelines on real estate VAT, which covered the VAT liability of JoP/OAs in the year 2018. There are plenty of opinions from different parties still in the market on VAT liability relating to services charges. This panel will go into the details to understand and identify the practical issues faced by JoPs and Community Managers in terms of tax environment.
